The price of mainstream CAT tools (part 2)

In this video, I share some comments about the latest TGB (Translator Group Buying) deal on ProZ.com. The CAT tools reviewed are SDL Trados Studio 2011, memoQ translator pro, Déjà Vu X2 and Wordfast. You may also want to have a look at a similar video I posted in January 2012.

Great comparison, although I think the main issueinvolved in choosing a CAT tool is: what tool are you required to use to work, rather than “which is cheaper or offers the bigger discount”.
I am always imposed by translation agencies the CAT to use, so in the end I am working with Trados, Wordfast Pro and MemoQ.
More and more agencies rely on cloud computing, be it just to use a remote TM or to host a whole project on the server.
That way they bring down to 0 the risk of having a translator disappear within days from the delivery to the client. They can keep track of the translator’s progress all the way, and catch on time a lazy translator.
