Use Code Zapper to kill unneeded tags in Word documents

In a previous video, I mentioned a low-tech way to get rid of unneeded tags in DOCX documents in memoQ. Piotr Bienkowski suggested in a comment to that video that Code Zapper could have been used as an alternative way to reduce “tag soup”. Code Zapper didn’t help with my particular document in memoQ, but it can indeed be useful with many other Word documents, such as those converted from PDF’s.

This video shows how Code Zapper was able to reduce the number of “codes” (tags) in Déjà Vu X2 in the same document used in memoQ, from 154 down to 9.

Code Zapper is available in two forms:

  1. as a standalone Word template that can be purchased from the author, Dave Turner
  2. as part of Déjà Vu X2 (custom version embedded in the program)
