Wordfast Classic is a CAT tool that works as a Microsoft Word add-in in Windows (all versions of Microsoft Office up to 2016) and on Mac (Office 2011, but not 2016). This video shows how to translate a Word document from scratch in Wordfast Classic 6.45 (latest version as per October 2016). Sample bilingual terminology from an Excel sheet is imported (it must be saved as Unicode text first, as Wordfast Classic can only import terminology from a tab-delimited text file). A TMX translation memory is selected as BTM (background translation memory). The document is translated interactively, using such features as AutoSuggest, propagation, concordance search and on-the-fly adding of terminology. Finally, the bilingual document obtained with Wordfast Classic is “cleaned up” and the translated document is generated.
